In many areas of our lives we see cause and effect taking
place on almost an everyday basis.
Tribulations normally bring heartache, blessings bring joy, and so
on. Well in 2 Corinthians 3-4 we see
another cause and effect described by the Apostle Paul. In chapter 3:6 we see that God has made us
able ministers of the New Testament, which is of the Spirit and not of the law.
In Chapter 4:1 Paul says, “Therefore,
seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not.”
Because we have received this ministry and the wonderful mercy of God, the
effect should be that we faint not! The word faint means: Lacking brightness,
vividness, clearness, loudness, strength; feeble or slight; lacking courage,
timorous. Our faith and ministry should
be loud, on fire, bright, strong, steadfast, clear, bold,
and visible to a lost and dying world, because of this one sobering thought, “Where
would you and I be today without the mercy of Almighty God?” I’m reminded of Psalm 103:10 which states, “He hath not dealt with us after our sins;
nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.” I cannot speak for anyone else on this
planet, but I am so glad that God IS merciful to me; therefore, I should not
faint. In addition to not fainting, the Apostle Paul brings to our attention
the fact that as ministers of the grace of God we should renounce the old man, (may
I remind you that we are crucified with Christ and are new men-2 Corinthians
5:17, Galatians 2:20) renounce all of his evil works, and show the world a true
example of Christianity. Even though we
should do our absolute best to point others to Christ with our words, our day
to day actions, and our overall lifestyle, there are still some to whom the
Gospel is hid. We are reminded of our
enemy, the god of this world. He has
blinded the minds of mankind, lest the light of the Gospel of Christ, who IS
the image of God, should shine unto them.
Believers, you and I have an AWESOME responsibility given by our
Commander and Chief. We should live our
lives and carry out our ministry with great boldness, great zeal, and
steadfastness, because we have a sworn enemy who is doing everything in his
power to blind the minds of men and drag them right down to hell with him. Don’t be weary…….Don’t faint……Press ON for
Him!!!
