“Troubles & Trials”
2 Corinthians 4:8-12
One of the major differences that should be manifested
between us and the world is how we react when trials and difficult times come
into our lives. In 2 Corinthians 4:8-12,
the Apostle Paul gives a great example of what our attitudes should be. The
text reads, “We are troubled on every
side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but
not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the
dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in
our body. For we which live are always
delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made
manifest in our mortal flesh. So then
death worketh in us, but life in you.” When
we see troubles and trials enter the lives of lost people it is expected for
them to lash out, to blame others, or to react in a non-sensible way. As believers, we have an amazing Lord and
Father who is always by our side. (He has promised to NEVER leave or forsake
us-Heb 13:5) God is with us all the time and His desire is to mold our lives
and place situations in our lives that will bring us closer to Him. That being said, when difficult times enter
your life, think to yourself, “What does God what me to learn in this
situation?” Not only that, but we have a
promise from God’s Word that we can do ALL things through Christ (Philippians
4:13) These truths explain how they Apostle Paul was able to make these
declarations with such boldness and certainty.
In addition to Christ always being by our side, when we live through
these tough situations, the life and ministry of Christ is manifested through
us for the entire world to see.
Believers, may we always remember that no matter what trials or
tribulations enter our lives our loving Father is always right by our side to
teach us, train us, and guide us through those situations. Finally, remember that as we live through
those situations, God is working through us to see other believers grow and the
lost world drawn to Him. Don’t be
discouraged; let God work in and through you!
