Last
week I talked about knowing why we believe what we believe it. I gave my personal testimony about this and
talked about making sure our children know also. What I didn’t elaborate on, is how important
it is for everyone to know this, especially, new believers.
If
you have just recently gotten saved and are wanting to grow, let me encourage
you to really nail down this area. As
you hear new truths either through preaching or teaching or by just reading the
Bible for yourself, make sure that you really study them. Don’t be afraid to ask questions of your
spiritual leaders and teachers. Pray and
ask God for wisdom to understand the truths as you hear them. Knowing the why’s and why not’s will only
help to make your faith stronger. This
will be beneficial when you meet opposition when talking to someone and they
ask you a question. And even more
importantly when tough times come, you need something solid to grasp on to.
Proverbs
24:10 “If thou faint in the day of
adversity, thy strength is
small.”
1Peter 1:7 “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold
that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and
honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:”
