Many
scriptures in the word of God, are very certainly sentence sermons. The verse can stand by itself and preach a
message.
I
Corinthians 16:14 is one of these. Very
convicting and teaching: 14 “Let
all your things be done with charity.”
Let
all your things: Our words, our actions,
our fellowships, our relationships, especially our worship and devotion of
Almighty God. Let them be done with
charity.
When
we use the word charity in our typical conversation today; we use it in regard
to giving to a needy person or cause. In
the word of God, it comes from the same original Greek word as does the word
for God’s love. As in John 3:16 “For God
so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
When
love is our motivation, there is usually no mistaking it; and never any regrets
for what we’ve said or done.
Our
charity is God’s love in action working through us.
We
have to be honest, and admit; some folks are easier to love than others. But this is the fleshly way of loving; loving
those who love us back, or who are lovely.
But
that’s not the way God loves us. God
doesn’t love you or me because of who we are or what we’ve done. Thank God for it. God loves us in spite of who we are or what
we’ve done; because of Who He is. Which the word of God says is love.
I
John 4:8 “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
However
far short I fall from the words in I Cor. 16:14 “Let all your things be done with charity,”
