Family Friday: Katie's Love Story

Love- according to Wikipedia love is a variety of different feelings. These feelings range from affection, kindness, compassion, friendship, romance or desire, and kinship.  These are only a few and don’t even begin to scratch the surface of such a strong, complex emotion.   Since love is a feeling it is ever changing because our feelings are always changing.  Love can grow stronger, become weaker, be passionate, or simply drive us crazy.  I am no expert in this subject by any means, but I will share my small love history with you anyway.
About me:  I am a single mother to a beautiful 11yr old girl.  As a mother it is easy, natural for me to love especially in regards to my child.  I loved her before I met her and my love for her continues to grow as she continues to grow.
My past and current fear of love:  It’s sad but true, I fear love.  I sure wish I didn’t but I do.  I believe love is real and is also possible in everyone’s life, including mine.   My fear stems from past experiences that have left me slightly jaded on the subject.  My first painful experience with love happened when I was a teenager.  My father left our family, which happens all too often in society today.   I was extremely close to my father which made it seem like the ultimate betrayal.  I became angry, bitter and full of hatred.  Maybe a year after my father leaving I jumped into an abusive relationship which lasted a very long 10 yrs.  That experience only fueled my anger, bitterness and I utter despise of love.
My new ”LOVE” life in Christ:  Whether or not I ever find love with another here on earth matters very little to me now.  I am comforted in the love bestowed unto me by my heavenly Father.  I have a love like never before inside of me.  The day God entered my heart was a day filled with love.  The Bible is God’s hand written love letter to his children.  I cleave to the promises He gives me in His word.  The first promise is of eternal life, salvation thru his son Jesus Christ (John 3:16).  The second promise of many is found in Hebrews 13:5b I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.  That verse tells me that whereas my earthly father failed to always be there, my heavenly Father will never abandon me.  The third promise is found in 1 John. There I am shown how to remove bitterness and anger from my heart and where true love is found.  Thanks to my Saviour, Jesus Christ I am no longer unloved or loveless.
1 John 4:7-19
"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.  He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.  In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.  No man hath seen God at any time.  If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.  Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us his Spirit.  And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.  Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.  And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us.  God is love; and he that dwelleth in God, and God in him.  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as he is, so are we in this world.  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment.  He that feareth is not made perfect in love.  We love him, because he first loved us."
P.S   LOVE is not a dirty 4 letter word.
In Christ alone,
Katie
