Monday's Message: God's Little Helper

God’s Little Helper I Corinthians 3:4-9

Paul again addresses the argument that has created a wedge in the Church at Corinth.  The believers there were divided over their allegiance to different men of God.  Both of these men preached the Word and were being used by God, but neither of them were doing the work themselves.  They were both being used by the Father!! The devil, it seems, had distracted these people from recognizing God’s hand at work.  How often are we guilty of taking credit for what God has done for us, in us, or through us?  I fear that we do not spend near enough time thanking God or giving Him the glory for all He has done. We must never forget that we are feeble, finite people capable of doing very little without the power and strength of the Lord!

God has made the choice to include us in the work He desires to accomplish here on the earth; however, He is perfectly capable of accomplishing His will without our involvement.  God is creating learning opportunities for us by giving us instruction on what to do and how to do it.  It is a lot like when we were children and our dad would ask for our help on a project, or when dad was working on a project and we would ask if we could “help”.  How often did our dads really need our help to complete a simple task?   Dad could easily do the entire thing just as easily, if not easier, without our help, but chose to include us to teach us and to let us feel needed!  Our Father in Heaven has created a very similar situation to teach us by including us in His work.

As we see clearly stated in this passage, “ye are God’s building”.  God has no desire to make us His slaves to perform tasks that are beneath Him.  God is a loving Father who has an overwhelming desire to train and produce children who are prepared for the battles they will encounter in this life.  When God asks or even commands us to do something in His Word, we must approach it with that understanding and mindset.  Believer, trust God to lead you and guide you to a place of blessing and Joy.  He will never fail you, abandon you, or hurt you!
