There can be no equal of the great love
that Jesus has and showed to us, His Believers, and even to the whole world; as
we find it worded in the most familiar vs. to most in the Scriptures: John
3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he
gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.”
There is not a person on earth that can truthfully say: “The
Lord doesn’t love me!”. Rather, we can
say “The Lord sure does love us; just look at how He showed His love; by the
cross of Calvary; and God the Father, in giving us His only begotten Son.”
Then the word of God declares in I John 4:19 “We love him, because he first loved us.” I can give my life to the Lord, for Him to
use me in His service; but the Lord also gives us a way by which we can show
and prove our sincere love to Him.” We
read in Matt. 6:21 “For where your
treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
True love is from the heart; and divine truth declares: We
put our treasure where we put our hearts.
We read in our text for this study: I Cor. 16:1-2
1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have
given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one
of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no
gatherings when I come.
Vs. 1 speaks specifically about a love offering for the poor
saints of the church of Corinth. But
this is definitely a New Testament Bible principle about going to our local
Bible believing church on Sunday; [the first day of the week] and as God has
prospered us; to give to Him our tithes, and offerings.
As we said; this is one of the great Biblical ways the Lord
has chosen to show Him our hearts.
As we count the cost; of which we really cannot put an
accurate price tag on it; as it cost the Son of the Living God; the Lord Jesus
Christ, everything. He gave His life; and shall we not give?
