Thoughtful Thursday: Your sin or Your name?

Satan knows your name, but he calls you by your sin.
God knows your sin, but He calls you by your name.

In Job 1:7-8 the Bible says “And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.  And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?”
Revelations 12:10 refers to Satan as “the accuser of the brethren”.  He spends his time looking for our sins and bringing them up to God.  As long as he can identify sin in our lives, our names don’t matter to him.
God on the other hand, knows us by our name.  Romans 8:1 says “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,” He has chosen to remember our sin no more.  So, when He looks at us, He doesn’t see our sin.  He sees His child that He loves and died for.
