Cabin Fever Cures

Winter brings with it snow, hot chocolate, fires
and CABIN FEVER!  What if we could harness the seemingly limitless energy of our youngsters, and put it towards a
fun, family activity?

Most of us, as parents, realize the importance of family activities and spending a good quantity of quality time with our children.  If God has blessed your home with children, even when money is tight (which it is for most of us right after Christmas) you can still plan to enjoy the time you have together!

Here is a list of 20 fun, nearly free, indoor activities:

  • Pop popcorn on the stove. (Give it a special touch with add-ons like: cheese, M&Ms, flavored salts)
  • Play shadow puppets in a dark room
  • Pillow fights
  • Nerf gun wars
  • Cook pancakes for supper (add in fun ingredients like chocolate chips)
  • Attend free craft/building clinics at Lowe’s, Home Depot or the Library
  • Drink hot chocolate
  • Write a story together
  • Act out your story
  • Take a walk through one of our local state parks/preserves
  • Host a game night with friends
  • Skype with out of town friends or family
  • Build a blanket fort
  • Read a favorite book out loud to your children
  • Play I spy
  • Bake your family’s favorite cookies
  • Play hide and seek
  • Read a joke book out loud together
  • Build a race track for hot wheel cars
  • Make homemade play dough
